Bands
The role of the Roosevelt High School's instrumental music program is to provide the students with an opportunity to expand and apply their musical knowledge and experiences. Roosevelt's program over the years has been regarded as one of the most successful in the state. Our focal point of the band program are the two concert bands. The Symphonic Band is primarily comprised of freshmen and sophomore students enrolled in the program. The 85-piece band is divided into two separate classes which meet four times during the week beginning in August and ending in June. In addition, every student is required to meet once-a-week after school for individual sectionals or full band rehearsals. Each student receives one credit for his/her participation in band. The band has consistently received superior ratings at the Oahu Band Directors Association Festival of Bands and performs works generally at the grade III and IV level. They received a Superior Rating at this years OBDA Parade of Bands.
