Roosevelt High School Music Department invites the community to start the holiday season at the Band and Orchestra's Winter Concert. The entertainment-filled event will take place Saturday Dec. 7 at 5:30 p.m. at the Carter Auditorium on the Roosevelt High School Campus.
The school administration and campus security have requested that parents are NOT to drop off students on campus in the morning. Parents are to drop off students in the front of Roosevelt High School or on Mott-Smith Drive. Faculty members have complained that parents are parking in teachers stalls in the morning notably near the music building and are creating a congestion problem near the gymnasium. We would also like to remind parents that when there is a function happening on campus other than a music department event, parents will not be allowed to drop off their child at the music building. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.
Congratulations to Daniel Oshiro who is the runner-up in this year's American High School Honors Performance Series at Carnegie Hall. This venue showcases some of the most talented student performers in the country. Through a nomination process of over 1000 students and intense selection process, accomplished students are brought together in New York City with peers to comprise the Honors Instrumental Ensemble. Several days of rehearsal under the direction of renowned conductors culminates in a performance in Carnegie Hall.
Roosevelt High School recently switched over to a new phone system and now has a new telephone number. The new phone number for the school is 531-9500. The direct line to the music department will be 531-9547. You can contact either one of two ways:
Call the school directly and then punch in the extension for the music department which is 19547. Dial direct to the music department - 531-9547. Our renovated Carter Auditorium has finally been completed. The newly renovated auditorium features a state-of-the art lighting and sound system as well as a full size rehearsal room located beneath the stage. Although approximately 200 seats needed to be taken away, it created a stage area that can accommodate large performing ensembles. The auditorium is able to seat 680 patrons and with stadium style seating, there is really no bad seat in the house.
Donations from the National Football League and the Roosevelt High School Alumni Association raised close to 1 million dollars to help with the renovations of our athletic field. Field turf which is the same type used at M&T Bank Stadium, home of the Baltimore Ravens has been installed along with a new all-weather track. Other upgrades includes a new snack concession and security fences. It is one of the premier athletic facilities in the State of Hawai'i.
