The word of the week is "Dedication". In the midst of the up coming Hurricane Isabelle, the marching band is out in full force tonight. (Thursday, August 7, 2014)
Thank you to our hardworking and dedicated parents for setting up and preparing our kick-off dinner for the marching band students! Special thanks to the parents for making the delicious homemade desserts! It was spectacular to end the grueling summer practice season with dinner and friends! Plus the students enjoy a week off before school actually starts! HO
To the parents and students who came out to help today, THANK YOU VERY MUCH! We had a great time laughing, prepping, laughing, cooking, joking, plating, laughing, teasing, transporting, joking, and selling plates today! Great bonding time! Here are some pictures we can share.
"This was waiting for me when I got to the auditorium with a note from an anonymous donor saying this is to replace the 8 Wenger chairs that were stolen this past year. Thank you so much to the donor who purchased these chairs for us." Mr. Abe has a guardian angel who is looking after him and all of his music students! In addition to these 8 Wenger chairs, another guardian angel has graciously paid for all the clinicians for the Orchestra Camp and has taken care of all the food for the students and clinicians for the Orchestra Camp! Please music students, you can show your gratitude by taking full advantage of these opportunities that come your way by participating whole-heartedly in these opportunities to learn and grow; and by putting on your best performances! Many thanks again to our GENEROUS AND SUPPORTIVE DONORS! Roosevelt High School Music Department receives NAMM Foundation - 2014 Support Music Merit Award5/31/2014
Congratulations to the Roosevelt High School Music Department, Mr. Gregg Abe, and Micah Masuno on receiving the 2014 Support Music Merit Award from the the NAMM Foundation. National program celebrates districts' and schools' exemplary dedication to music programsCARLSBAD, Calif. , March 24, 2014--The NAMM Foundation awards school music education programs with the announcement of 2014’s Best Communities for Music Education (BCME). This year, the NAMM Foundation designates 376 districts as Best Communities for Music Education and 96 individual schools as SupportMusic Merit Award winners. These districts and schools set the bar in offering students access to comprehensive music education. The BCME program applauds the efforts of teachers, administrators, parents, students and community leaders working to assure that music education is part of the core curriculum. More than 2000 schools and school districts participated in this year’s survey resulting in a 21% increase in designations. “These schools and districts make a strong commitment to music education in the core curriculum supporting its essential value to a well-rounded education for every child,” said Mary Luehrsen, NAMM Foundation executive director. “Strong, engaging programs that offer students access to music cannot thrive in a vacuum. The Best Communities designation and the SupportMusic Merit Award bring hard-won visibility to music classes, programs and departments that are keeping music education alive in our schools.” FYI...
